Vaago Weiland fotografierte für die begehbare Installation „ERDPECH-GEH!FÜHLE!“
eine asphaltierte Straße, die ehemals glatt und eben, vom Zahn der
Zeit, von natürlichen Witterungseinflüssen, von der ständigen
Belastung durch seine Benutzer aufgerissen, zernarbt, schließlich
geflickt wurde und eine vollkommen veränderte Struktur erhalten hat.
Aus dem Zusammenhang gelöst, erhält jedes Detail eine spannungsreiche
Ästhetik: Höhen und Tiefen, Licht und Schatten lassen die Details der
Straße noch plastischer wirken.
Gut 60 Kästen von
unterschiedlicher Höhe sind wie ein schmaler Weg in einem Innenraum
angeordnet. In jeden Kasten ist eine Fotografie, unter Glas,
eingelassen. Der Betrachter ist aufgefordert die Installation zu
begehen, auf ihr den Weg nachzuvollziehen, seine Unebenheiten und
Unregelmäßigkeiten mit seinen Sinnen zu erspüren.
Diese
Arbeit veranlasste Weiland sich weitergehend mit der Benutzeroberfläche
Straße zu beschäftigen. Entstanden ist ein Zyklus aus bildhauerischen
und malerischen Arbeiten.

At
least 30 boxes of different height are arranged like a small path in an
inside room. In each box, the photography of the detail of an asphalt
road surface is inserted. The viewer of this floor installation
"Asphalt" is requested to enter the boxes, to re-enact the
path, and to experience its unevenness
and irregularity with all his senses.
In
his sculptures, paintings, photographs and installations, Vaago Weiland
works on situations, which he has experienced and which raise questions
and reflections. With his artistic conversion he sets the viewers
thinking, without being able to give answers.
For
the "Asphalt" installation, Vaago Weiland took photographs of
an asphalted road, which - formerly smooth and even - was torn up,
scarred by the ravages of time, by natural influences of weather, by the
constant load by its users, which was repaired and which then got a
completely different structure. Taken out of the context, each detail
gets an exciting aesthetic: ups and downs, light and shadow let have the
details of the road a sculptural effect, reminding of topographical
photographs. By the request to notice the photographs not only visually
but to walk on them, Vaago Weiland forces the viewer to a more intensive
analysis of the subject.
